Vintage Rockers

My very first purchase of a new piece of furniture, in the early 1970s, was a Bentwood Rocking Chair based on the design of Michael Thonet. Over the years, I continue to love the look, and the experience of balancing on it while reading or hanging out. Pablo Picasso enjoyed balancing in his bentwood rocker as well:

My vintage 1970s era Bentwood rocking chair (with the characteristic carved curved legs with woven cane back rest and seat all in natural wood tones) looks like these, although the bottom seat was damaged and has been 80% re-caned.

For my 40th birthday, Peter bought me another sculptural rocking chair, of bentwood oak laminate.

This 1960s Tendo Mokko (Japan) Heron high back rocking chair was designed by Mitsumasa Sugasawa. Of bentwood oak with original structure that is very strong and original upholstery that is damaged with a slash on the chair back, this chair is ready to be reupholstered.
